New Windows 10 Technical Preview build now available for phones

Microsoft releases Friday a new test version of Windows 10 for smartphones. The operating system can be updated in every Lumia device in late 2012 or later installed.

The update has been released two hours later than originally planned due to an error that had to be repaired first.

The new version also adds Microsoft's new browser add, Project Spartan, along with having a new ring tones, calendar, mail, SMS and Messages app. Internet Explorer 11 is still set as the default browser.

The so-called Technical Preview of Windows 10 works in the vast majority of Lumia handsets which have been on the market since late 2012, with the exception of the 930, 640 and Icon and XL.

Previously, the early version was only for a limited number of Lumia smartphones available, with high-end appliances were missing correct.

Ultimately, every Windows Phone 8 phone will receive a free upgrade to Windows 10. When this actually happens will depend on the model and the manufacturer. Windows 10 will be launched this summer.
